Field report from a DHBW student

“My area of responsibility at VBH is diverse and, as a result, always interesting.”

For Sandra Pflüger, it is important to gain sound theoretical and on-the-job training during her studies. It was this combination of academic learning with workplace training that made her opt for a dual studies programme with VBH. She also appreciates the intensive support she receives from both VBH and the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University.

What made you opt for VBH when you were looking for a dual studies program?

My interest in VBH was awakened because, on the one hand, I wanted to work at a medium-sized company in the Stuttgart region and, on the other, I’d like to spend a couple of months abroad during my studies. That’s very important to me and VBH gives me the chance to do this.

You’re now right in the middle of your studies. Are you happy with your decision?

I can definitely say today that it was the right choice. During the practical phases at VBH, I gain an insight into all of the company’s different departments and learn a lot about the different activities and processes. My area of responsibility is diverse and, as a result, always interesting. Collaboration with other departments is also highly effective, and my colleagues are always willing to help and are happy to take the time to teach me new things.

You’re currently working in the HR department. What does an average working day there look like for you?

The HR department performs a huge variety of tasks, which makes work extremely diverse. Right now, for example, I’m helping the department to choose applicants. It is always really interesting to see how employment tests are evaluated and interviews conducted.
